Review Streamlight PolyTac C4 LED

nblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;">
My everyday carry tactical flashlight is the Streamlight PolyTac C4 LED. The PolyTac comes in either the C4 LED or Xenon bulb. Comparing the C4 LED to the Xenon, 120 lumens vs 72 lumens, 3 hour runtime vs 1 1/3 hour runtime, 40,000 hour bulb vs 30 hour bulb, it's clear the C4 LED is the winner. The PolyTac's competition is Surefire's G2 LED. The G2 has been updated with an aluminum bezel and it's maximum brightness is now equal to the PolyTac, 120 lumens.

PolyTac Pros
120 lumens is blinding bright. The PolyTac has plenty of power for your everyday tactical flashlight. The light is bluish-white in color and projects far, the brightest concentrated heavily in the center. I often use it to spot my dogs at night 30-40 yards away.
The only modes on the PolyTac are momentary on and constant on. I do miss the low light and strobe modes found on my ProTac 1L but in a true emergency situation, I realize I just want the flashlight to turn on and off.
The size of the PolyTac feels great in the hand. This is especially true in conjunction with a handgun with the Harries or Rogers technique. I would suggest maybe a checkered pattern grip be added if Streamlight ever updates the design.
The PolyTac is affordable. I purchased mine off eBay brand new for $29 with shipping. The online retail price at the time of this review is $33 + shipping. Compare that to Surefire's G2 price of $69 and you can buy two PolyTac's!
PolyTac Cons
I find myself reaching for something negative to say about the PolyTac. At first, I thought the PolyTac is a little bulky for an EDC light for civilians but when holding it in the hand, I wouldn't want it too much smaller.
New Surefire G2 LED with aluminum bezel
The G2 has more accessories available such holsters, Picatinny/Weaver mounting hardware, and pressure switch caps. Some of the holsters made for the G2 are compatible with the PolyTac. I haven't found a pressure switch cap that is compatible with the PolyTac yet for mounting it a shotgun.
Final Thoughts
I wouldn't hesitate in purchasing the PolyTac C4 LED. You get the most bang for your buck. The PolyTac is reliable and effective as a tactical flashlight. It's bright and feels great in the hand in conjunction with a handgun. The best holster I found for the PolyTac is made by Galco.
