Dealextreme has just released this product:

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/fandyfire-s...8650-91136

Some days ago I ordered this one and I am still waiting for it:

http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php...650-p-7016

I wonder how they two both will compare against each other Rolleyes

I ordered the skyray from manafont last week. Don't have it yet but it looks like the same light to me. I'm glad I ordered from manafont though. It cost a few bucks more but I get it a lot faster. The manafont one has that stupid 3800lm B.S. Written on it. I have already been experimenting with other lights on how to remove the writing and so far have not come up with a solution that looks good.

One claims 3800 lumens which is too much and the another one claims too few, just 1000 lumens. The last one is closer to reality I believe, though. They really look the same, they use the same WF-500 body, but I am not sure if they will use the same driver (I bet they do, but you never know even with exactly same model).

I am still waiting the Manafont one too, looking forward to compare it against my brightest flashlight, the Solarforce L1200.

You can remove writing with black paint altogether. But I have no idea how to remove just white paint only Sad Maybe somebody in the forum knows. Have you thought about re-painting it all black again?

Repainting is probably the way to do it. Steel wool just doesn't get it done and the wire wheel on the grinder works too good. Maybe just sand off that section and repaint.
Have you ever seen a Chinese light claim LESS lumens that it actually makes? Trying a new strategy maybe.

Indeed this is the first one from China claiming less lumens I have ever seen that I can think of. I wonder if they will end painting less lumens on the body too Big Grin hehehe.

By they way, will new Fenix TK70 beat them (Sky Ray and FandyFire) in brightness? I am looking forward reviews and beamshot comparisons!

My skyray arrived today but I'm not home to play with it.
Thinking about it today, I think I'll try wet sanding the printing off. I bet that works. How about a course polishing compound?

I played with the Skyray last night and really was amazed by it. I put some initial thoughts on this thread http://budgetlightforum.com/node/2657?pa...ment-49960 post #187

Can you tell (using magnifying glass and a light source that I'm sure you haveWink) is that printing above the HA surface, level with it or recessed (below surface level)? There are few possibilities:

1. Plain nitro or acrylic paint (level with, or slightly above HA surface): piece of cake - use nitro solvent,

2. "Baked" paint (enamel) of some kind: use fine wet sandpaper (800 grade and proceed to finer grades) and be careful not to damage HA, polish afterwards if necessary,

3. Laser engraving (level with HA, rough under the fingernail): it's actually bare base metal showing through - impossible to remove w/o damaging the HA,

4. Recessed, painted letters: clean with solvent, cover letters with nitro paint that matches the HA and wipe excess paint.

Hope this helped, sorry for (relative) OT,

Tam
